Diabetes mellitus and heart failure are often comorbid conditions. The studies found that patients taking metformin as monotherapy (odds ratio 0.65 (0.48–0.87)) or in conjunction with other drugs (0.72 (0.59–0.90)), mortality rate is lower. Research results given in the survey confirm the efficacy of treatment for concomitant heart failure in patients with diabetes mellitus and show the benefits of using metformin to lower blood glucose levels in these patients.
